When do you generally book sessions?

I love to do sessions when the lighting outside is in that beautiful golden hour. That means just after sunrise and before sunset. Most of my clients will book outdoor sessions weekend mornings and in the evenings between 5 and 7 pm depending on the time of year. However, I have to work around a lot of schedules, so I am experienced in doing photography sessions in the rain and bright sun. Indoor newborn sessions in the winter can be any time of the day, but summer newborn sessions in the wildflowers are my favorite.

I have several young kids. Is it possible to get a good session with lots of photos and have a session be worth it?

Yes! I have families ask me this all the time and this is something I too deal with. Every session I have ever done thus far has been great no matter how many small children there are! Some parents worry that they have to book a long session to get enough “good shots” or worry that their kids won’t behave. Sessions are meant to be fun and they are! I love candid shots and will get shots of your kids even if they are running away from you, crying, or not posing “perfectly”. If I do have a session where children are tired, crying or being difficult, I generally extend those sessions if needed to get all of my shots. If I know your kid likes to run, I will chose spots that have wide open fields, away from roads and other hazards (just in case).

Having precious photos of your kids is always worth the time and effort! Like I said, most of my shoots are with families, and they have all been great sessions (both for me and parents), even if children are not feeling up to having their photo taken.

Do you charge a travel fee?

Yes I do. I’m a busy mom with 3 kids that I take care of while my husband is working a lot with his residency. Traveling an hour or two on top of the actual photo session is time away from my family. I also book many sessions back to back, so traveling could be taking out an entire time slot or 2 that would have otherwise been full photo sessions. This is especially true during my busy season where I may have 3 or 4 sessions on the same day.

I have to charge a travel fee, as it’s extra time, money and energy to go outside of all the closer areas I shoot. I charge based off of how far the location is and how much extra time it takes to travel round trip. That means the fee will be different depending on location. I am generally fine with shooting within a 8 mile radius of Hershey. If I’m traveling for a shoot, I prefer that my clients book at least an hour-long session so that it’s worth it for both of us. Message me to talk about travel fees! Also message me directly if you have a specific location in mind.

I would love to get photos, but I don’t have the budget for it right now. What do I do?

Send me an email or a direct message. I work with many clients who are in medical school or are young couples just starting out. I totally get it! Message me and we can talk about what you want, what I offer, and how to afford a session.

Do you offer discounts when multiple sessions are booked during the year?

Yes I do! Message me to discuss specifics. I also offer a discount to clients who refer a friend if that friend books a session. For example, if you do a session with me and refer a friend a few months down the road that then books a session with me, I can reimburse you the referral discount as long as it’s within the season you booked a session. I also cut $50 off if you do a combined shoot such as for newborns and family shoots or want 2 shoots in the same year.
